Sunshine Challenge 2020: Prompt 2 - Orange

The second prompt for the Sunshine Challenge is orange.

"Orange" is one of those tricky words that doesn't rhyme with anything, or so I thought. "Door hinge" always felt like a cheat to me, but there is in fact a word that rhymes with orange: sporange, which has something to do with fern spores.

Orange makes me think of corny knock-knock jokes. "Orange you glad I didn't say banana?"

One of my favorite Pixar movies stars these guys, who are very orange:

Sporange is a new word that I'm not sure I'll ever get to use. xD But yes to corny knock-knock jokes!!

Did you prefer the original Finding Nemo or Finding Dory?

Ha, I doubt I'll be using "sporange" much myself!

"Finding Dory" had its moments (and Hank the octopus was great), but I prefer "Finding Nemo." The first movie has more emotional resonance for me.

I love Hank. There are elements from both that I really enjoy, it's hard for me to pick one. The first definitely had an impact, though.

Ha! Yeah, kids LOVE jokes like that. I don't know how adults put up with us when we're growing up. There are these certain jokes that were hysterically funny in like fourth grade and now I just roll my eyes at my past self. (Though I hope I never become one of those grumps who tells the kids that I've heard their jokes a hundred times already.)

"What's black and white and red/read all over?"
"A newspaper."
"No! A zebra with a sunburn! Bwahahaha!!!"

(There were so many variants of that one that you could swap out the punchline so the person never guessed right.)

It gets even funnier (or more awkward) when kids make up their own jokes that don't make much sense. It's like they know jokes need a punchline, but they're still figuring out how that stuff works. Though when in doubt, it's hard to go wrong with butts and farts. Like this one from the Kids Write Jokes Twitter feed:

I love Pixar movies too! Whether they're telling stories about toys, fish, bugs, or monsters, their characters feel relatable and human.

My dad always told terrible knock-knock jokes when we were kids, and that was one of his favorites. :)

I remember having a book of bad knock knock jokes as a kid, and that orange one was featured prominently. It's so corny, it always makes me smile :D

Oh yeah, I had a joke book too when I was a kid! I must've been insufferable when I first got it XD Sadly, all I can remember is the orange knock-knock joke, and a joke that goes, "What's a cow's favorite movie star? Mary Tyler Moo-er!"
