Rumarin’s knowledge of weapons and sword fighting was heavily influenced by traveling artists. For example, he learned some archery trick shooting from Tamriel’s equivalent of Annie Oakley. From actors he learned dramatic spinning moves that look great on the stage. Unfortunately those same moves will usually get you killed in actual combat. The Oblivion Crisis almost destroyed Kvatch, but the survivors stayed to fight and rebuild. The Kvatch that rose from the ashes established a culture that believes in renewal and second chances. The people don’t hide the fact that their celebrated hero was a prisoner with a questionable past; they hold up the hero as an example of someone who found redemption.

In Kvatch, most people don’t throw something out as soon as it breaks. Instead they try to repair or repurpose it. In fact, Kvatch is famous for turning broken objects into works of art using techniques similar to Japanese kintsugi.
