This prompt for the Sunshine Challenge is indigo.

Indigo is a perplexing color. Is it blue? Is it purple? I know it lies somewhere between the two, but I had to look it up to make sure I have the right shade in my head... and I'm still confused. At least Isaac Asimov seems to agree: "It is customary to list indigo as a color lying between blue and violet, but it has never seemed to me that indigo is worth the dignity of being considered a separate color. To my eyes it seems merely deep blue."

For a fandom association, I'll go with Rarity from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The color of her mane appears to fall in the blue-violet spectrum, and even if I'm wrong, I know she could tell me all about indigo and how to pair it tastefully with other colors.

Oh Rarity is a good call! And she absolutely would know how to dress in indigo, darling. Princess Luna also came to mind once you mentioned MLP. I loved her Nightmare Moon form so much.

I feel that way about indigo, too. I don't have any strong associations with it. It's just that color that's between those other two. But I like blue and violet, so any shade in-between is nice. The quote by Asimov is interesting.

Rarity would absolutely know how to use indigo properly, and might very well have considered it for Sapphire Shores.

Or, as I am now remembering a certain alicorn who seems to endlessly enjoy trolling her sister, for Princess Celestia, if she asked nicely.

There's a little more development of the sibling relationship in later seasons as the Princesses appear in their episodes, and it very much sounds like Luna would have been driven to the edge if she didn't find some way of essentially letting off steam because of her very annoying older sister.

There is the occasional episode where it turns out Twilight has created something mythic and the reality is far more pedestrian (Equestrian?) than what Twilight thinks, but also, after the end of the fourth season, Twilight's relationship to Celestia and Luna changes radically and that opens up the space for both of those alicorns to be seen much less as the unattainable ideal and more nuanced.

Thank you, Isaac Asimov. *tips hat*
