Sunshine Challenge 2020: Prompt 1 - Red

The first prompt is red.

Red is a strong color that is associated with a variety of things including: courage, power, glory, love, passion, inner strength, romance, sensuality, defiance, tenacity, violence, life, pleasure, fire, and revolution.

For some, the color red can signify personal power and tenacity. When something flares red for you, what does that mean? When was the last time you felt the power of a red concept or emotion?

Red makes me think of the Ruby Slippers from the Wizard of Oz movie. And of the red shoes I wore when I dressed up for a costume party as Dorothy Gale.

Red makes me think of Carmen Sandiego, a professional thief who steals the world's greatest treasures and does it with style. She's motivated more by the challenge of it than anything else.

Red makes me think of Red Fraggle-- always ready to play hard, compete hard, and prove that she can be the best at whatever she puts her mind to (or at least settle for being better than Gobo Fraggle at rock hockey and beanbarrow racing).

Red makes me think of going on an adventure and breaking away from rules and traditions. Wearing red means you're ready to take command-- unless you're in an episode of Star Trek.

I like reading the different responses people have made to this red prompt :)

The ruby slippers are such a classic. I should get a pair of red shoes.

Carmen Sandiego definitely has a lot of style!

I felt a little mean about being so amused by that Redshirts video. Poor redshirts.

I also dressed as Carmen Sandiego once for Halloween-- not a difficult costume to put together, and it looks cool. I really ought to inject more red into my wardrobe too, it's a good color if you're feeling bold.
