Progress Report #2 for TOTW 17
Sunday, June 14th, 2020 11:10 amChapter 17 for Throat of the World is finally taking the shape I was hoping for. It's not on the fast track yet, but it's much closer than it was.
Somehow I need to come up with a better way to work on early drafts. Right now it seems to help if I focus on one element at a time-- in this case, hammering out the dialogue first, then describing what the characters are doing, then fleshing out the scenes that have little or no dialogue, and so on.
The problem is, when I move on to the next phase, often I'll decide to make major changes to an element that I already worked on. Then I fall back into the habit of second-guessing myself and fussing with everything at once. Which leads to little or no progress for three dang months.
